For French students

French students at the École Polytechnique have military status and receive remuneration for the duration of their studies. French students benefit from a permanent exemption from tuition fees, provided that they work in the civil service for at least 10 years in the 20 years following their graduation. If not, they must repay the tuition fees:

To date, the total amount to be repaid is approximately :

• 21,000 € for students who have chosen to join a government body in 4th year
• 31,000 € for students who have not chosen to join a government body

This amount is reduced according to the time worked in the public service.

For international students

All international students on the full-time Polytechnic Engineering Cycle are required to pay tuition fees for the entire duration of their studies. Students repeating a year must pay the fees for the additional year. 

For the 4th year, students can choose to pursue a Master's degree over 1 or 2 years in France or abroad, in which case tuition fees are payable directly to the host institution.

A reduction in tuition fees may be granted at the student's request, depending on his or her family situation and income.

The exact total amount of your tuition fees will be confirmed following your official request and after verification of the supporting documents provided. A dedicated committee will examine the supporting documents you have provided and propose a reduction rate, subject to approval by the Ecole Polytechnique Board of Governors.
