Convocation & Arrival

Thank you for choosing X! As Class of X2024 engineering students, you will begin your studies at X with an induction period (“incorporation”) before following the differentiated initial courses, depending on whether you are French (EOX), a French-speaking international student (EIX FR), or a non-French-speaking international student (EIX NFR). You will all return to the School campus in early April to begin the common core academic program.

Once admitted, you will be called to your induction on the following dates:

  • 08/28 for French-speaking international engineering students (EIX FR)
  • 08/30 for French engineering students (EOX)
  • 09/09 for non-French-speaking engineering students (EIX NFR)

At the end of your induction :

  • French engineering students (EOX) spend three weeks in Initial Military Training (IMT), from September 5 to 25 on the La Courtine military base in the Creuse region. Following this IMT period, they begin their Personal Development and Military Training with a military or civilian internship.

  • International French-speaking engineering students (EIX FR) begin their Personal Development period by carrying out a civilian work placement. Read more

  • Non-French-speaking international engineering students (EIX NFR) take a course in French as a foreign language. Read more

International dual degree students from the European Union and those from SPEIT will be called in late February 2025.

Getting to the campus

École Polytechnique is accessible by car. Enter the keywords “École Polytechnique” in Plans / Google Maps to obtain an itinerary. You can also use Mapwise with the keyword “Accueil X2024”

You can also get to École Polytechnique campus

  • By bus from Massy Palaiseau TGV station (RERB B and C) / Massy TGV Station

  • By RER B (Lozere station) and the Jomard stairs to the Plateau de Saclay (circa 450 staircase steps)

Once you have arrived on campus, open the IP Paris Campus application (free download from Apple Store or Google Play) and search “Accueil X2024 (September 1 convocation)”. Mandatory Student and Campus Life Contribution – CVEC

The Student and Campus Life Contribution (Contribution de Vie Étudiante et de Campus - CVEC) is compulsory (with the exception of beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, refugees and asylum seekers among international students).

WHAT IS THE CVEC?

The CVEC is used to develop useful services for your daily university life, your institution and your Regional Center for University and School Services, known as "CROUS" (Centre régional des œuvres universitaires et scolaires). You must pay a fee of €103, but may be able to obtain a waiver depending on your situation.

MY ATTESTATION

Obtaining your attestation (from July 1 onward):

  1. Log in/Create an account on MesServices.Etudiant.gouv.fr
  2. Indicate your city of study
  3. Pay for the CVEC
  4. Receive your attestation

Start planning from today by creating your account on the digital service platform: MesServices.etudiant.gouv.fr

WHERE CAN I FIND MY ATTESTATION?

As soon as your disbursement or waiver has been processed, you may download your attestation:

> By logging in directly on CVEC.Etudiant.gouv.fr
> By logging in (using the same account) on MesServices.etudiant.gouv.fr and clicking on CVEC

International Student Identity Card (ISIC)

You will receive your School badge on your return to the campus.

There are two sides to this badge.

How can I benefit from ISIC advantages and prove I am a student in the meantime?
You can do this via the IP Paris campus application https://portail.polytechnique.edu/dsi/ip-paris-campus. You obviously need to have downloaded this application on your smartphone and opened it with your School login. Once you have completed this step, you can access both sides of your digitalized student card with the “ISIC” button. This will allow you to prove your student status and benefit from the associated advantages.
The digital version of the student card is generated around mid-September.

School attendance certificates

Students may obtain a School attendance certificate by logging in to the SynapseS portal. The certificate can be found under “Mes documents”/ “My documents”, in the “Documents administratifs” / “Administrative documents” section. Certificates are posted online in early September by the Academic Office, once students have completed their administrative enrollment. During the incorporation week, a printed version of the certificate will be distributed to everyone, for students who require a paper version immediately.
Other requests for academic documents must be sent to the generic address: demande.document@polytechnique.fr
