Department of Economics
The Department of Economics at Ecole Polytechnique offers training in economics in the engineering degree and Bachelor degree. It also contributes to Master of Science and Technology, Masters and Ph.D. programs in Economics together with partner institutions in Institut Polytechnique de Paris.
The department is part of the Department of Economics and Sociology of IP Paris.
The Department has a strong quantitative component, with most teaching and research using models of economic phenomena and data science tools, such as econometrics and machine learning techniques. Its strengths include: - the analysis and evaluation of public policies, - microeconomic theory and behavioral economics – market design, the study of economic platforms and block-chains - the study of macroeconomic models using microeconomic data - environmental economics and sustainable finance.
The Department is located in the ENSAE building on the École Polytechnique campus. Research activities are carried out within CREST, a joint CNRS - ENSAE –Ecole Polytechnique research center. The department includes 60 full and part time professors, and hosts several teaching and research chairs.
