Container ships are now the most polluting population of ships on the planet. They alone are responsible for 1% of global CO2 emissions.
BlueNose aims to reduce their environmental impact by installing retrofit structures on these ships which allow a reduction in fuel consumption thanks to improved aerodynamics. This represents up to 6000 tC02 saved per ship per year (up to 5% fuel savings).
The shape of these structures is generated thanks to an algorithm combining pressures from fluid mechanics with an iterative shape generation process.
The BlueNose technology allows to improve the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) with an easy installation (can be installed outside the dry dock) with a payback within 3 years (about $1,000,000 / boat / year / savings ).
