France's Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications, Postal Affairs and Press Distribution (Arcep), has joined the MSc&T “Data and Economics for Public Policy” until the end of 2026, for an educational partnership which will involve the co-production of courses and lectures.

École polytechnique, ENSAE Paris and Telecom Paris, all three founding members of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), have joined forces to launch a master of science and technology (MSc&T) entitled “Data and Economics for Public Policy” at the start of the 2023 academic year, aimed at improving public policy through data.

Analyzing and exploiting the data collected and produced inside and outside the public administration can lead to better service for users, more targeted action by institutions and more precise, agile management of public policies.

École Polytechnique's MSc&T “Data and economics for public policy” offers a unique two-year course in France, dedicated to the design and evaluation of public policies.

This training program, at the interface of data science and economic analysis, draws on the expertise of our partner schools in economics, econometrics and data science, as well as their solid experience in training engineers and senior civil servants.

Students are involved in case-based projects based on public data (policy in action project), benefit from lectures by renowned public policy experts (12 lectures series in public policy) and internships with various partners.

Students from the 2023 class developed an interactive map of public health determinants for the Ministry of the Environment's Ecolab.

The MSc&T is being built up gradually, to guarantee the excellence of its teaching. The very first class (2023) consisted of 5 students. In 2024, 8 students - including 6 female students - will enter the program.

Right from the outset, École polytechnique's MScT “Data and economics for public policy” was the subject of a partnership with the Statistic Department of the French Health Ministry. It is also supported by the French Court of Public Auditors.
