Established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Eiffel scholarship program of excellence counts thirteen international students of École Polytechnique among the recipients in 2023. This result places the School among the leading French institutions in terms of recipients of the prestigious scholarship in engineering sciences. Three of the scholarship recipients come from Brazil, three others from Cameroon, two from Lebanon, one from Cambodia, one from Egypt, one from Russia, one from Senegal, and one from Vietnam.

The distinction of thirteen international students of the School amongst the winners of the Eiffel scholarships in 2023 confirms the academic excellence of École Polytechnique’s students and the diversity of the School’s global recruitment. Currently, 40% of École Polytechnique’s students are international, and over 100 nationalities are represented on campus.

Eleven of the thirteen winners are studying in the Ingénieur Polytechnicien program, within the classes X2023 and X2022. The remaining two Eiffel scholarship recipients at l'X are enrolled in two of École Polytechnique’s Master of Science & Technology (MScT) programs: the Master in Artificial Intelligence and advanced Visual Computing and the Master in Energy Environment: Science Technology and Management

The Eiffel scholarship program of excellence

Launched by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to assist French higher education institutions in attracting outstanding and promising international students to their master's and doctoral degree programs, the Eiffel Scholarship program selects the winners amongst the applicants according to several criteria.

The candidate's academic excellence, as documented by their previous education records, and the innovative nature of their research represent two of the selection criteria. This second point applies namely to doctoral students.

The international policy of the institution submitting the candidate's application, its activities in the respective geographical area, the quality of its welcome desk for international students joining, and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ partnership policy contribute to the priority given to specific countries in this program.
