First Employment Survey 2025 – Bachelor Graduates: Very promising prospects

Three years after graduation, most École Polytechnique Bachelor of Science alumni are pursuing further studies, particularly in science or economics through master’s or PhD programs. Those already in the workforce enjoy rapid job placement, competitive salaries, and strong international mobility.

Three years after graduation, the 2021 class of the École Polytechnique Bachelor of Science program stands out for its remarkable academic and professional trajectories. The 2025 employment survey highlights both a strong continuation into further studies and successful early career integration for those already in the workforce.

High Ambitions for Further Studies

Among respondents, an impressive 90% are pursuing further studies, primarily through Master’s or PhD track programs. Europe is the preferred destination (80%), with a significant number choosing to stay in France (44%). The fields of study reflect a strong scientific and economic orientation:

  • 36% are specializing in data science, mathematics, or physics,
  • 27% have chosen programs in management, business, finance, or economics.

Significant Engagement in Doctoral Studies

46% of the graduates have enrolled in a PhD program, with 47% of them doing so abroad, demonstrating the global recognition of the X Bachelor degree. The top PhD disciplines include:

  • Computer science (29%),
  • Applied mathematics (24%),
  • Physics (18%).

These young researchers earn an average annual gross salary of €35,000, both in France and abroad.

Successful Professional Integration

For those who have already entered the job market, 100% found employment within six months after completing their master’s degree. 77% are on permanent contracts, and 31% were hired by companies where they had previously interned or done a gap year.

Graduates are employed across various sectors:

  • Banking, insurance, and financial services (46%),
  • IT and digital services (23%),
  • Research, teaching, consulting, and industry also represent notable pathways.

The average annual gross salary in France stands at €53,000.

Graduates report high job satisfaction: 85% say they are very or fairly satisfied with their current position.

An International Career Outlook

International mobility is a hallmark of the BX21 cohort. The United Kingdom (38%), France (23%), and the United States (23%) are the top three destinations for employed graduates, underscoring the global reach of the Bachelor program at École Polytechnique.
