Five École Polytechnique’s start-ups join the Next 40 2024
The winners of the 2024 edition of the Next40 /FrenchTech 120 labels were unveiled on May 22. One in four Next 40 start-ups was created or co-founded by X alumni. Nearly one in three unicorns, i.e. start-ups valued at over one billion dollars, is also a product of the X entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.
Eleven start-ups honored in the 2024 edition of the Next40 were founded or co-founded by X alumni, and five of them - Chapvision, Ilek, Pennylane, Mistertemp and Mistral AI - are among the new entrants to this list launched in 2019, alongside FrenchTech 120, to support and promote the most promising French start-ups.
In addition to the five new entrants to the Next40 2024, two of which - Mistertemp and Mistral AI - have joined directly, the X start-ups listed again in 2024 are: Dental Monitoring, DNA Script, PayFit, Shift Technology, Spendesk, Vestiaire collective.
X start-ups are also strongly represented in the select group of 30 French unicorns. Seven of the 30 French unicorns are X start-ups: DentalMonitoring, Shift Technology, PayFit, Spendesk, Vestiaire Collective and Mistral AI.
By extending the scope to include the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), which includes the École polytechnique, ENSAE Paris, ENSTA Paris, Télécom Paris and Télécom SudParis, three additional start-ups are included in the Next40 2023: Exotec (Télécom Paris), Sorare (Telecom SudParis) and Eqwateur (Télécom Paris), the first two of which are also French unicorns.
Celebrating the dynamism of their entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem, X and IP were out in force at VivaTech 2024.
