Just as the international scientific conference “AI, Science and Society” was taking place on its campus on February 6-7, 2025, as part of the AI Action Summit hosted in France, École Polytechnique signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), a graduate research university in Abu Dhabi dedicated to the advancement of AI. The agreement aims to facilitate the development of joint projects in education, research, and innovation in the domain of artificial intelligence.

Several researchers from the two institutions have worked together on the development of AI methods, tools, and foundation models. Among them, Eric Moulines, researcher and professor at École Polytechnique, is conducting collaborative research with researchers at MBZUAI on various subjects including generative AI models, uncertainty quantification, with a focus on conformal error quantification methods, which he and his co-researchers plan to extend to meteorological and climate models, as well as to LLMs.

The new partnership agreement, signed on the sidelines of the international scientific conference 'AI, Science and Society' at École Polytechnique, establishes a framework for collaborative research and the development of joint training programs centered on AI, while encouraging strategic initiatives that will allow researchers and students from both institutions to benefit from the strengths of each partner institution and the experience of an international project between France and the United Arab Emirates.

Located in Abu Dhabi, the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence plays an important role in Abu Dhabi's ambition to become a hub for the international AI community. With a focus on computer science, MBZUAI strives to partner with top international higher education institutions in the field.

The signing of this agreement occurs in the context of a favorable bilateral dynamic, with France and the United Arab Emirates having expressed their desire to create a strategic partnership in the field of AI and having announced the creation of a campus dedicated to AI in France.
