L’X reinforces its collaboration with IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi
Marking the beginning of the institution’s reinforced collaboration with two leading Indian Institutes of Technology, Laura Chaubard, President of École Polytechnique, led a delegation to the partner institutions in India. She was accompanied by Dominique Rossin, Provost of l’X, Gaëlle Le Goff, Director of International Affairs at l’X, and Paul Forien, Deputy Director of International Affairs.
Meetings with the Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), Prof. Shireesh B. Kedare, and with the Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), Prof. Rangan Banerjee, provided the opportunity to confirm cooperation projects with the signing of a student exchange agreement with each of the two institutions. These agreements will allow students of École Polytechnique’s Bachelor of Science program to spend a semester at IIT Bombay or IIT Delhi, and students from these two prestigious institutions to study for an exchange semester at École Polytechnique, either for academic or research purposes.
Each year, École Polytechnique welcomes many students of Indian nationality to its courses. During the academic year 2023-2024, 79 Indian students were enrolled in École Polytechnique’s different degree programs, ranging from the Bachelor of Sciences program to the Doctorate level. The newly signed academic exchange agreements contribute to making the partner institutions further popular among École Polytechnique, IIT Bombay, and IIT Delhi students eager to integrate a foreign experience into their academic careers.
Many links between l’X and the two Indian Institutes of Technology exist already. For instance, Cini Suresh, a PhD student from IIT Delhi specializing in electrochemistry, is doing a six-month research internship at the Laboratory of Molecular Chemistry (LCM) as part of École Polytechnique’s Research Program for International Talents. Strong scientific tights exist also between IIT Bombay and l’X, and the professor of École Polytechnique Manas V. Upadhyay will be visiting professor at IIT Bombay in early 2025. These exchanges demonstrate the potential for collaboration between the partner institutions.
