L’X signs a partnership with Bocconi University
On November 13th, École Polytechnique welcomed the Rector of Bocconi University, Prof. Francesco Billari, and his delegation. During their meeting, Prof. Francesco Billari and École Polytechnique’s President Laura Chaubard signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Bocconi University and l’X, which supports the development of double degree collaborations at Master's degree level and facilitates academic exchanges for students from both partner institutions. Furthermore, Institut Polytechnique de Paris also signed a general memorandum of understanding confirming the two institutions’ intention to work together.
Ranked among the top ten universities in Europe1 and specialized in economics, management, finance, law, political science, data and computer science, Bocconi University is a highly valued European partner whose academic programs are highly complementary to those of École Polytechnique.
The cooperation between l’X and Bocconi has grown stronger since the launch of École Polytechnique’s Bachelor's program, as it provided the opportunity to increase student exchanges. Every year, students from Bocconi University study at École Polytechnique’s Bachelor of Science’s program during an exchange semester, and vice versa, Bachelor's students from l’X have the opportunity to spend a semester at the Italian partner institution. These exchanges are supported by the Erasmus scholarship program.
In addition, students from Bocconi often pass the entrance exams for École Polytechnique's Master of Science and Technology (MScT) programs with flying colors, distinguishing themselves for the excellence of their academic results.
The scientific interest of their collaboration made both institutions express their wish to strengthen their existing links. The first strategic discussions took place on the sidelines of the U7+ Alliance Presidents' Summit held at Bocconi University in April 2024, in which Laura Chaubard participated.
"We are delighted to be working more closely with Bocconi University. The agreement we have signed today provides for the introduction of new joint programs that draw on the complementary expertise of the two institutions. École Polytechnique’s students will hence have the opportunity to complement their studies in quantitative economics or management, areas in which Bocconi University is world-renowned", comments Laura Chaubard, President of École Polytechnique.
