Photoreport at the Quantum Circuits and Matter Lab (QCMX)

The goal of the QCMX Lab is to explore the quantum properties of electronic circuits and matter. Its strategy consists in coupling superconducting circuits normally used to process quantum information to materials in order to probe their quantum properties and discover new electronic states of matter.

Within the QCMX Lab (Quantum Circuits & Matter), which they created, Landry Bretheau (X2005) and Jean-Damien Pillet (ENS Ulm 2005), professors at the Laboratory of Condensed Matter for Physics (PMC*), are developing a scientific project at the intersection of two very dynamic fields in quantum physics: superconducting quantum circuits and quantum materials.

They are designing hybrid architectures combining superconducting circuits and low-dimensional conductors to isolate new electronic states and manipulate their quantum states coherently. In addition to its fundamental interest, this line of research could help identify promising new elementary quantum systems for quantum information processing.

In this highly competitive field of research, which requires substantial funding, the Circuits QuantX project is supported by the Fondation de l'École Polytechnique and is one of the projects selected as part of the « Servir la science »new fund-raising campaign launched last November.

The QCMX Lab is  part of the Laboratory of Condensed Matter for Physics (PMC*)  which encompass four scientific groups : "Irregularity in Physics", "Electrons, photons, surfaces", "Electrochemistry", "Solid State Chemistry".
