The Polytechnique Community

The Polytechnique community is embodied first and foremost in its students, alumni, graduates and their families. It is, of course, born at the École polytechnique, but it exists and develops just as much thanks to and through its alumni and the Fondation de l'École polytechnique.

The École polytechnique, the Association des anciens élèves et diplômés de l'X (AX) and the Fondation de l'X (FX) share the same values of excellence, commitment, integrity and openness for all polytechnicians.

With its 230-year history, the École polytechnique has built up its own unique traditions and heritage over the years and over generations of polytechnicians.

History

Founded in 1794, the École Polytechnique has, over the course of more than 230 years, developed a strong and unique identity, as reflected in its heritage, traditions and the slang used by its students.

The School's museum, Mus'X, presents its highly diversified collections, including scientific instruments, busts, uniforms, flags... which retrace the history of the École since its creation in 1794.
