The second international conference, REFLEXIONS - Regulation to fight climate change
FRANCE, June 2nd, 2023 - Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), in partnership with the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC), is organizing the second international REFLEXIONS conference, which will take place on Friday 9 June 2023 at the Ecole Polytechnique. This academic and scientific forum will gather representatives from the public and private sector as well as civil society to contribute to understanding and bring solutions to climate change issues and, more broadly, to sustainable transition. The 2023 edition will focus on regulation to fight climate change.
Climate change is a global issue that can only be addressed by working at all levels: locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
By adressing the theme of regulation and climate change, IP Paris aims to be a creative force of proposals to face the alarming data on climate change, which requires the development of new regulations as well as refining existing ones to tackle this global challenge. As a leading education and research institution in France and Europe, IP Paris is bringing at the heart of the debate the importance of the scientific findings to the development of effective policies and innovation to fight climate change.
After the success of the first edition of the REFLEXIONS conference, initiated by École Polytechnique in 2019 and which welcomed several Nobel Prize winners, the aim of this second edition will be to provide input on how to make regulation a lever for climate change.
During this day, several renowned personalities from the political, economic and scientific world will participate in debates on four themes:
- The major role of science-based global regulations in facilitating the energy transition
- Measures taken by financial authorities and markets to strengthen green finance
- Measures taken to respond to consumer behaviour change and market regulation
- The importance of international cooperation and multi-stakeholder’s involvement in developing and adapting regulations
"To meet a major challenge such as climate change, global concerted policies are needed to support the necessary adaptations to our modes of production and behaviour. The REFLEXIONS conference is a platform for academic and scientific discussion, gathering all stakeholders in society to work out long term solutions. As a French public education and research institution, our mission is not only to train young talents for tomorrow, but also to produce scientific knowledge that will contribute to efficient public policy. Scientific expertise is essential to enable decision-makers to make the right decisions for everyone's future." said Eric Labaye, President of École Polytechnique and Institut Polytechnique de Paris.
