The call for applications for the academic year 2024-2025 is open.
The Gaspard Monge Visiting Professor Program is open to international scientists, whose research relates to the scientific fields of École Polytechnique’s 23 laboratories.

Conditions
The Gaspard Monge Visiting Professor program will welcome one or more researchers or professors during the next academic year and invite them to conduct their research in École Polytechnique’s laboratories. The visiting professors are expected to teach 4 hours per month as part of a course or seminar. Delivering an inaugural lecture is also part of the Gaspard Monge Visiting Professor program.
- The program is open to researchers who are currently employed at a foreign university and have at least 5 years of experience after having been granted their Ph.D. degree. It welcomes researchers of all nationalities, including French nationality provided French researchers are employed at a foreign university.
- The program is not open to postdoctoral candidates.
- The duration of the stay has to comprise 4 to 12 months. It is possible to split the stay into two
terms, but all of the terms should be at most two months and occur within an 18-month period.
The laureates will be selected on the following criteria:
- The scientific excellence of the candidate and the candidate’s career
- The quality of the scientific project, the innovative character of the project and the expected impact of the research project to be conducted during the visiting professorship,
- The relevance of the scientific project to the strategy of l’X and IP Paris, and the host laboratory
- The project’s fit with the local scientific community (l’X and IP Paris)
- Quality of the intended teaching or training project
- The perspective of a lasting collaboration between the hosting laboratory at l’X and the laureate, and home institution and laboratory.
Gaspard Monge Visiting professors are offered many benefits :
- A salary/ amount of 3,500 € per month while the laureate pursues her or his activities at l’École polytechnique.
- An average budget of 10,000 € to develop her or his research program, the organization of events (e.g., conferences) on the research theme to establish or strengthen international collaborations.
- Housing near École Polytechnique’s campus, which can potentially accommodate the researcher's family. A second accommodation for hosting a doctoral student can also be offered.
- Support in administrative formalities before and during the stay.
Please note that only the incurring costs for the visiting professor will be covered. Incurring costs for family members are not covered.
Application
The application has to be written in English and include the following elements:
- A statement of interest for the position, describing the research project the candidate would like to carry out at École polytechnique (maximum 5 pages),
- A detailed CV, including a list of 5 publications,
- A presentation of the teaching project, that the visiting professor will implement at École polytechnique, in English, at the graduate/master's level (maximum 2 pages)
- A letter of support from the head of the candidate’s department or laboratory at their home university
- A detailed presentation of the budget, which would be required for the organization and financing of events

École Polytechnique is a bilingual institution (French and English). To apply to the Gaspard Monge Visiting Professorship program English proficiency is mandatory. French language proficiency is not required.
Application Deadline : March 22, 2024
The Admission Committee will communicate the results in late April 2024.
