Your class of X2024 includes 431 French cadets and up to 140 international students.
The École Polytechnique, under the supervision of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, is a military school. Among its students, only Polytechnique students of French nationality have military status and are officer cadets.
International students, who represent around 20% of the graduating class, do not have military status. They do, however, sign a letter of commitment specifying the conditions under which they wear the "Grand Uniforme" at military ceremonies and events.
There are two trackss to the polytechnic engineering cycle:
The CPGE track via :
- The Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Écoles competitive entrance exam, which enables 399 French students and 45 international students to enter the curriculum.
The University track, with several channels :
- The French University competitive entrance exam (FUF) is open to students of French nationality from French or foreign scientific university courses, and to international students enrolled in French universities.
- The international university competitive entrance exam (FUI) for non-French-speaking or French-speaking foreign students.
- The competitve entrance exam for French-speaking foreign students coming from preparatory courses for scientific training abroad. In this competition, students from the École d'ingénieurs Paris SJTU (SJTU Paris Elite Insitute of Technology - SPEIT) will be welcomed on a double degree basis from the end of February.
