École Polytechnique has once again topped French magazine Le Figaro Étudiant's ranking of French Engineering Schools, with outstanding performances on academic, international and employability criteria. In a context of shortage of engineers in France, this recognition underlines the excellence of its training and the impact of its graduates on major technological and ecological issues.

École Polytechnique once again confirms its position as undisputed leader, with an overall score of 18.8 out of 20 in the 2025 edition of this ranking. This score reflects the excellence of its training, which combines scientific rigor, international openness and high employability.

Le Figaro Étudiant's ranking of the 87 engineering schools accessible after two years of preparatory classes examines their characteristics and performance in three categories: academic, international and employment.

École Polytechnique particularly stands out on the academic criterion, with a score of 18.6. It also dominates the international aspect with 18.14. Finally, in terms of employability, École Polytechnique scored 19.10.

This recognition comes at a particularly opportune time: France is facing an acute shortage of engineers.

Le Figaro points out that, according to the Conference of Deans of French Schools of Engineering (CDEFI), every year there is a shortfall of 10,000 qualified engineers to meet the growing needs of strategic sectors such as nuclear power, digital technology and hydrogen.

According to Laurent Champaney, chairman of the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE), quoted in Le Figaro, engineering training is an obvious way forward. The CGE brings together more than 200 Franch Business and Engineering Schools. Laurent Champeney points out that young graduates are almost guaranteed an attractive job as soon as they leave school. Better still, these technical professions offer the opportunity to take concrete action in favor of the ecological transition and sustainable development.

École Polytechnique illustrates this dynamic: its commitment to technological and environmental issues attracts top talent from all over the world, while its graduates continue to establish themselves as key players in innovation.

In a landscape where Engineering Schools are increasingly called upon to respond to economic and societal challenges, École Polytechnique remains true to its motto, For the Nation, for Sciences, and for Glory, embodying French excellence.
