BCX changes its software!

BCX is proud to announce that it is changing its internal software.

As part of its drive to modernise and improve its services, BCX is proud to announce that it is changing its internal software.
BCX's activities have been constrained for some time by an outdated technical base and it needed a facelift, particularly in the run-up to Rénov'X.

As a result of this important change, BCX has been forced to implement a downgraded service from Friday 4 April up to and including Monday 7 April. During this period, the service provider will be able to carry out the final migration to the new environment.

This downgraded mode will result in:

  • Loans and returns only at the Reception desk
  • Self-Check Machines unavailable
  • No new reader registrations
  • Reader accounts will no longer be updated
  • Reservation requests will not be received and processed.

The new system will be in place from Tuesday 8 April.

  • New search interface: SPARK will replace FOCUS
  • Additional search mode (NPL) thanks to an AI assistant
  • Automatic registration for Ecole polytechnique and ENSTA users
  • Connection to the reader's account using your usual identifiers (email, computer session)
  • Simplified access to electronic resources via IP recognition or Shibboleth
  • Track current requests directly from the reader's account (ILL, reservation, purchase request)
  • More and more Open Access contents available

During this time of transition, the BCX's team will be at your disposal for any questions.

After a few months of use of SPARK, we will be collecting your feedback in a satisfaction form. We'll need everyone's help to improve our service to meet your needs.
