The start-ups included in the 2023 Next40 /FrenchTech 120 lists were unveiled on February 19th. Ten of tte 40 Next 40 start-ups were created or co-founded by École polytechnique alumni. Thanks to a high-powered laser installed on the summit of Säntis (Switzerland), a European consortium led by the Laboratoire d’optique appliquée has succeeded in influencing the trajectory of lightning. These results are published in the journal Nature Photonics.
The 2023 edition of the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, the world's largest tech exhibition, took place from January 5 to 8 with a smaller delegation of French start-ups, including three young companies supported by the Drahi-X Novation Center, the incubator of the École Polytechnique, as well as Valeo's R&D center, which has been working on safer, cleaner, smarter mobility for several years.
Charles Roques-Carmes is a Polytechnique engineer and is currently a postdoctoral associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Electronics Research Laboratory, where he received his Ph.D. in 2022 after completing a Master's degree in electrical and computer engineering. He is one of the 30 young scientists under the age of 30 honored by the North American edition of Forbes magazine.
