The "Data Science & Industrial Processes" Chair renewed
During its first period of activity, the "Data Science & Industrial Processes" Chair notably allowed for the creation of a training course in data science for students at EMINES, Morocco. The positive outcome led to its renewal for five years in the summer of 2022.

A bright collaboration – Two visiting researchers from Sudan at l’X
During a three-month visit, two Sudanese researchers, Fatema Mohamed and Maram Ali Ahmed, joined École Polytechnique’s Irradiated Solids Laboratory and strengthened their collaboration with the laboratory’s Theoretical Spectroscopy group on research projects focusing on the simulation of materials’ electronic properties. Moreover, Fatema will join the EuroTech Postdoc2 program in 2023 to pursue her postdoctoral studies in co-supervision at l’X and EPFL.

50 years ago, 7 pioneers and two valedictorians
The publication of the results of the entrance exam to Ecole Polytechnique on August 2, 1972 marked the arrival of the first seven women in the Ingénieur Polytechnicien program. Ecole Polytechnique celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of its feminization throughout this year and is stepping up its efforts to promote women’s position.

Memorial to Pierre Berest
Pierre Berest, former researcher at the Solid Mechanics Laboratory, which he headed from 1990 to 2001, and professor at the Department of Mechanics, member of the High College of the École Polytechnique, has left us. Andrei Constantinescu, CNRS research director and director of the LMS honors him.
