Mistral AI, the French Artificial Intelligence nugget, co-founded in February by two X2011s, Arthur Mensch and Guillaume Lample, and a graduate of École Normale Supérieure, Timothée Lacroix, has raised almost 500 million euros since itslauch, eight months ago, fueled by the craze surrounding AI since the appearance of ChatGPT in November 2022.
Several of the start-ups developing innovative nuclear reactors supported by the French government as part of the France 2030 Plan were co-founded or are supported by X alumni.

The WHIRLS project, which studies the role of ocean eddies on climate, is one of 37 Synergy grant projects announced on October 26 by the European Research Council (ERC). Director-General of École Polytechnique since October 5th, 2022, Laura Chaubard will also act as acting president of the School's Board of Directors, with effect from September 17th, 2023.
For the first time, the three Bachelor's classes welcomed to Ecole Polytechnique at the start of the 2023-2024 academic year all benefited from training in the challenges of ecological transition. The BX26 class attended a "sustainability day" while 2nd and 3rd year students (BX25-24) uderwent a two-day seminar. As part of its Climate Plan, Ecole Polytechnique is committed to providing sustainability training for all students in its various programs.
