Created by three alumni of École Polytechnique, the event dedicated to space and its exploration takes place from November 17th to 19th on the School’s campus. Hosting SpaceCon 2023 illustrates École Polytechnique's strong commitment to its research, training and innovation missions, and to meeting the most ambitious challenges in space research and exploration.
Since October 2022, École Polytechnique has been working with École Penninghen to develop a demonstrator for the XSeaO2 program, financed by the Ifker fund, and aimed at recovering CO2 dissolved in seawater to produce synthetic fuel. The Nautilus project, designed by students at École Penninghen, was chosen as the basis for the sensor design.
The WHIRLS project, which studies the role of ocean eddies on climate, is one of 37 Synergy grant projects announced on October 26 by the European Research Council (ERC). Sabrina Speich from École Normale Supérieure de Paris and researcher at the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique (LMD) is leading this project with three other researchers.
Ranked at the top of French engineering Schools of excellence, Ecole Polytechnique provides its engineering new graduates with an average first employment gross salary that is almost 45% higher than that of other engineering French Schools. Almost a third the Cycle Ingénieur Polytechnicien Program graduates go into research, making a major contribution to France's scientific and technological influence.
"Reveal", the game developed by the gamelab of the Chair "Science and Video Games", is part of a selection of video games created in France at Paris Games Week.
The Chair "Science and Video Games" Chair and the education sponsorship "Space: the sciences and challenges of space" join forces with student associations Réseau and AstronautiX to contribute to the "Explor'Espace" public astronomy festival on 3, 4 and 5 November 2023 at the Beffroi de Montrouge.
On October 2nd and 3rd, the X-Forum, brought together nearly 2,000 students, including 1,000 polytechnicians, and over 150 international companies, Schools and universities on the campus.
École Polytechnique has hosted the seminar for the first French Tech 2030 class. It gathered the program's institutional partners and the 125 winning start-ups, of which 16 from Ecole Polytechnique’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. At the same time, a ranking by the the French newspaper Le Figaro confirmed Ecole Polytechnique’s strong entrepreneurial dynamism.
Director-General of École Polytechnique since October 5th, 2022, Laura Chaubard will also act as acting president of the School's Board of Directors, with effect from September 17th, 2023.
For the first time, the three Bachelor's classes welcomed to Ecole Polytechnique at the start of the 2023-2024 academic year all benefited from training in the challenges of ecological transition. The BX26 class attended a "sustainability day" while 2nd and 3rd year students (BX25-24) uderwent a two-day seminar. As part of its Climate Plan, Ecole Polytechnique is committed to providing sustainability training for all students in its various programs.
The founders of two start-ups incubated at École Polytechnique’s incubator, X-Up, took part in the European Venture Program organized once a year as part of the EuroTech Universities Alliance, which includes École Polytechnique. This year’s edition of this entrepreneurship boot camp took place from August 2 to 9, 2023. It embarked the participants on a journey to discover the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
The third edition of the U7+ Student Forum addressed the theme “Peace and Security – What commitments can students make to support universities as engines of innovation in peace and security?“ Hosted by École Polytechnique, the forum took place in a virtual format from June 16 to July 7, 2023, and brought together students and faculty experts from the U7+ Alliance of World Universities across the globe.
