École Polytechnique develops fundamental and applied research to meet the scientific, technological and societal challenges of tomorrow. Its research strategy is integrated into the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, which federates fundamental and applied research, both disciplinary and interdisciplinary, within 10 research and teaching departments and interdisciplinary centers. École Polytechnique, within the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, brings together more than 1600 research staff of 70 different nationalities. The research themes of the laboratories cover many of the disciplines taught at the École. They evolve to meet the needs of the academic project and to respond to social, economic, security and environmental issues.
